Film Movement will celebrate the 50th anniversary of director Sergio Corbucci's classic western The Great Silence (1968) with a new Blu-ray edition of the film which will be available for purchase on June 5th.

Synopsis:

"On an unforgiving, snow-swept frontier, a group of bloodthirsty bounty hunters, led by the vicious Loco (Klaus Kinski, Nosferatu the Vampyre) prey on a band of persecuted outlaws who have taken to the hills. As the price on each head is collected one-by-one, only a mute gunslinger named Silence (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Conformist) stands between the innocent refugees and the greed and corruption that the bounty hunters represent. But, in this harsh, brutal world, the lines between right and wrong aren't always clear and good doesn't always triumph."

Featuring superb photography and a haunting score from maestro Ennio Morricone, director Sergio Corbucci's (Django, Companeros) bleak, brilliant and violent vision of an immoral, honorless west is widely considered to be among the very best and most influential Euro-Westerns ever made.

Special Features and Technical Specs:

· NEW 2K RESTORATION OF THE FILM

· Cox on Corbucci - filmmaker and author Alex Cox (Repo Man) surveys Sergio Corbucci's career and how The Great Silence fits within the maestro's oeuvre.

· Western, Italian Style - This 1968 documentary on Italian westerns includes prime behind the scenes footage of The Great Silence.

· Two never-before-seen alternate endings, including the option to play one of the alternate endings with Alex Cox commentary.

· The Great Silence original theatrical trailer.

· The Great Silence 2018 theatrical trailer.

· Italian and English language versions.

· Ending the Silence - a new essay about The Great Silence by film critic Simon Abrams.

Muuten saattaisin ehkäpä mahdollisesti pitäytyä suomidevarissa mutta nuo tekevät Hiljaisuuden sinisäteestä pakkohankinnan. Ja onhan dvd>br uppaus aina mukava (teko)syy elokuvien uusintakatseluille.

Neon Maniac 12.4.2018 17:59

^ Moinen on muotoseikka, vaikken kiinnostusta suoranaisesti kielläkään. Kyseessä on kuitenkin yksi kiistatta kunnioitusta herättävimmistä elokuvallisista saavutuksista genressä, mitä selluloidille on tallennettu.

Rahalle löytyy/ja tulee löytymään sijoituskohteita aika mukavasti joita ei vielä löydy hyllyssä missään muodossa(kill or be killed, mountain of cannibal god(banana redin tuleva kiekko), sartana box, red rings of fear, death smiles on a murderer, 88n korealeffat kunhan päätyvät amazoniin ym...)

Neon Maniac 13.4.2018 13:34

^ Henkilökohtaisesti koen ehkä kiinnostavimmaksi joidenkin julkaisujen lisämateriaalien yhteyteen liitetyt restaurointityötä valottavat koosteet, joista viimeisimpänä mieleen nousee 88 Films ‑julkaisu leffasta Mad Dog Killer (1977) sekä todellinen helmi, osaksi Subkultur Entertainment'n joukkorahoituksella startanneen Blutiger Freitag (1972) kylkiäisenä tullut elokuvan 4K masterointia kartoittava bonus.
