En, vaan sitä ettei ohjaaja tunnu sisäistävän vielä edes kolmannen leikkaussession jälkeen onnistuneensa jo kertaalleen, jolla viittaan tietenkin fc'n. Subjektiivista yhtä kaikki, mutta tuossa(kin) valossa tällainen pilkunviilailuikuisuusprojekti näyttäytyy miltei yksinomaan lypsämisenä, ja tuo eittämättä mieleen mm. Mann'in vastaavan sekoilun Viimeinen mohikaani ‑versioiden kanssa.

Ehkä Stone on kuten Ernst Jünger? Mieshän paranteli klassikkokirjaansa Teräsmyrskyssä ainakin seitsemään eri otteeseen (ensimmäinen versio tuli vuonna 1920, viimeisin 1978). Ja -78-versiosta huolimatta uusin englantilainen translaatio 2000-luvulla tehtiin jostain aiemmasta. Eli jokainen voi valita omansa.
