THE STORY

Boone knew that there was no place on this earth for him now; no happiness here, not even with Lori. He would let Hell claim him, let Death take him there. But Death itself seemed to shrink from him.

No wonder, if he had indeed been the monster who had shattered, violated and shredded so many others’ lives. Decker had shown him the proof the hellish photographs where the last victims were forever stilled, splayed in the last obscene moment of their torture.

Boone’s only refuge now was Midian, that awful, legendary place in which gathered the half-dead, the Nightbreed.

Scream Factory has dated its upcoming Collector's Edition of director Rob Reiner's film Misery (1990), starring James Caan, Kathy Bates, Richard Farnsworth, Frances Sternhagen, and Lauren Bacall. The release will be available for purchase on November 28. Supplemental features to be included on this upcoming release have not yet been finalized and will be revealed at a later time. However, the label has confirmed that it is preparing a NEW 4K film transfer, and has already completed a NEW interview with Director Rob Reiner.

Also included with this announcement is the newly commissioned official artwork for the upcoming release from artist Joel Robinson. (The reverse side will have the original poster art).

Synopsis:

"A "heart-stopping psychological thriller" (Joel Siegel), this Academy Award-winning film is "one of the best horror movies" (Time) ever. Adapted from a Stephen King novel by Oscar-winning screenwriter William Goldman (All The President's Men) and directed by Rob Reiner (A Few Good Men), this chiller starring Kathy Bates (Titanic) and James Cann (The Godfather) is "a Hitchcockian kind of cat-and-mouse" (The New York Times) game played between two cunning minds – one as sharp as a tack and the other as blunt as a sledgehammer."

"Novelist Paul Sheldon (Cann) doesn't remember the blinding blizzard that sent his car spinning off the road. Nor does he remember being nursed back from unconsciousness. All he remembers is waking up in the home of Annie Wilkes (Bates) – a maniacal fan who is bent on keeping her favorite writer as her personal prisoner...for the rest of his 'cock-a-doodie' life!"

Synopsis:

"Two orphaned sisters living quietly in a convent – free-spirited Kathleen (Anne Libert) and God fearing Margaret (Britt Nichols) are persecuted by the wicked Lady De Winter (Karin Field) who tells them they are daughters of a condemned witch burned at the stake. Believing the girls will seek vengeance, De Winter sends Kathleen to witch-hunter Judge Jeffries to be tortured and burned. Pious Margaret is spared, but when she learns of her sister's agony she rejects God and enters a carnal relationship with the Devil himself. As Kathleen falls in love with one of her captors, Margaret stalks the house of De Winter, her Satanic kisses bringing terror and death..."

Hell Up in Harlem (1973)

Writer and director Larry Cohen's ability to move smoothly between genres (Special Effects, It's Alive, God Told Me To, Original Gangstas) is on full display in the blaxploitation film Hell Up in Harlem, starring Fred Williamson.

"He's alive!?! Fred Williamson (Black Caesar) returns as the Godfather of Harlem in director Larry Cohen's sequel to the blaxploitation hit Black Caesar."

"Recovering from an onslaught of bullets that would have killed a lesser man, Tommy Gibbs is out for revenge against DiAngelo (Gerald Gordon, One Man's Way), a sleazy New York District Attorney with mob ties who set up the hit-gone-wrong. Tommy, with the aid of his father, Papa Gibbs (Julius W. Harris, Super Fly) is soon on the mend and putting his Harlem empire back on track. But there's a catch. Could Tommy's near-death experience have changed the man who was once called the "Overlord of the Underworld"? Is redemption stronger than temptation? All will be revealed in the action-packed sequel to Black Caesar featuring Gloria Hendry (reprising her role as Helen in Black Caesar), Margaret Avery (The Color Purple), D'Urville Martin (the returning Reverend Rufus of Black Caesar), Tony King (Shaft) and Bobby Ramsen (God Told Me To). Written, produced and directed by Larry Cohen (Black Caesar, Special Effects), Hell Up in Harlem is a Samuel Z. Arkoff presentation featuring a musical score by Fonce Mizell and Freddie Perren with songs performed by Edwin Starr."

Samalla kansikuvalla tuli tilattua itsekin, kun kuitenkin jenkkititteli otsikossa ainoana tarjolla olevista vaihtoehdoista. Nämähän viedään käsistä, kuten niin usein on tapana mediakirjojen kohdalla, vaikka standardipainoskin tehnee tuloaan Nameless Median julkaisuhistorian tuntien. Asiakaskohtaiset rajoitukset myytävien kappalemäärien osalta vaihtelee nekin ymmärtääkseni puljujen välillä rajoitettujen julkaisujen kohdalla, mikä on helvetin hyvä asia skalppien ahneuden huomioiden. Hinnat on murhaa nettikaupoissa jo nyt, jatkosta puhumattakaan, mutta kyse lienee useimmille kuitenkin kerta päivityksestä, näin ainakin allekirjoittaneelle. Nähtäväksi jää, mikä taho leffan mahdollisesti julkaisee jenkeissä, jos lopulta mikään. Toivottavasti unrated version jokainen freimi myös todella osoittautuu HD-resoluutioksi. Aivan liian kauan on tätä(kin) jouduttu odottamaan, melkeinpä hukkaan heitettyä aikaa sanon minä. Kaikesta huolimatta tyytyväisin mielin omaa kappaletta odotellessa.

Kyseessä samainen vuoden 2017 skannaus, jonka pohjalta Scorpion Releasing painoi jo aiemmin blu-ray:n, ja josta kuluvan vuoden aikana tullaan julkaisemaan lisäksi rajoitettu kolmen levyn painos Scorpion Releasing toimesta.

Mehukkaat ennakot perjantain julkistuksia koskien! Kyse oletettavasti jenkkijulkaisusta:

"MARI, SEVENTEEN, IS DYING. EVEN FOR HER THE WORST IS YET TO COME!"

"The directorial debut of Wes Craven, the man behind such horror favourites as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes and Scream, The Last House on the Left justly retains its reputation as one of the most harrowing cinematic experiences of all time, nearly half a century on from its original release."

"On the eve of her 17th birthday, Mari and friend Phyllis set off from her family home to the big city to attend a concert by shock-rockers Bloodlust. Attempting to pick up some marijuana on the way, the pair run afoul of a group of vicious crooks, headed up by the sadistic and depraved Krug (David Hess). Gagged and bound, the young women are bundled into a car trunk and driven to the woods, where the gang subject them to a terrifying ordeal of sexual humiliation, torture and murder."

"Unleashed on an unsuspecting public in 1972, The Last House on the Left shocked audiences with its graphic and unflinching portrayal of interpersonal violence, paving the way for a whole host of cheap imitators looking to capitalise on its success. It is Wes Craven s original alone, however, that remains one of the true watershed moments in horror (and indeed, film) history."

Eureka Entertainment has announced that it will bring to UK theaters and Blu-ray the recent 4K restoration of James Whale's classic horror thriller The Old Dark House (1932), starring Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, Lilian Bond, and Ernest Thesiger. The restoration will open in select theaters across the United Kingdom and Ireland from April 27, while the Blu-ray release will be available for purchase on May 21. Also included with this announcement is a brand new theatrical poster for the new restoration.

"Frankenstein director James Whale turned J.B. Priestley's novel Benighted into a nerve-jangling tale that became the template for all spooky-house chillers to come. Stranded travellers stumble upon a strange old house, and find themselves at the mercy of a highly eccentric and potentially dangerous family. This atmospheric thriller features an unforgettable post-Frankenstein horror role for Boris Karloff, as the hulking, disfigured butler Morgan. Also starring in early-career roles are Melvin Douglas, Charles Laughton, Raymond Massey and Gloria Stuart of Titanic."
