The master director will be working at the popular film and TV production base of Hengdian World Studios in Southeast China's Zhejiang Province. He'll be working on the choreography and sets for his third big-budget martial arts film, following the hugely successful "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers."
Shooting will formally begin in March or April.
Set in China's Tang Dynasty, "Autumn Remembrance" will take audiences through the fierce battles between an emperor and empress at war.
Hong Kong veteran Chow Yun-fat has been confirmed as emperor while Chinese actress Gong Li is the favorite for empress.
Chinese actor Liu Ye is expected to play major role in the film.
