Mikään elokuva ei tarvitse uudelleen tekoa. Sehän on jo kertaalleen tehty!

Tai oikeastaan jos jokin elokuva on tajuttoman huono ja sen toteutus kusee totaalisesti joka osa-alueella, mutta sen ideassa potentiaalia suhteellisen hyväänkin elokuvaan, niin siinä voisin ehkä tehdä poikkeuksen ja hellittää vastustustani juuri tuota remakea kohtaan. Mutta kaikkien hyvien leffojen remaket ovat edelleen turhia projekteja, joita ilman maailma olisi parempi paikka. Tai ainakin jonkun kahjon mielestä, jonka elämänkatsomukseen remaket vaikuttavat liiankin paljon.

Miten te määrittelette tuon remaken, kun niitä ei kerran "saa" tehdä? Jos elokuvan nimi on sama kuin toisen? Jos elokuvan juoni on melkein sama kuin jonkin toisen? Jos elokuva pohjautuu jo kerran filmattuun kirjaan tai tarinaan?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre "remake" oli ainakin parempi kuin suurin osa uusista Hollywood-kauhuista, joilla on eri nimi kuin muilla elokuvilla. Samoin The Ring, joka on selvemmin turha remake, mutta silti hyvä elokuva. Sitten on näitä perinteisempiä: The Thing, Kurosawa-kopiot...

Fantomasin listaamista kaksi jälkimmäistä tulee R&A:han. Uncovered on asiapakettina paljon Fahrenheitia parempi ja vakuuttavampikin, muttei tietenkään yhtä ripeä ja hauska. Silver Citykään ei ole mitään Fahrenheit-ratsastusta, yksi päähenkilö vaan sattuu olemaan naruista vedelty ex-alkkis lukihäiriöinen sanoissaan sekoileva reborn republikaanisenaattori. Remake vai remaken remake?

Jotain vanhaa, uutta ja jotain lainattua. Sinisestä en tiedä, mutta tällä kertaa kärpänen kai lentää.

What the fuck is this shit!?! Eipä ole Bob Clarkin tuotantoa tullut seurattua pitkään aikaan, ilmeisesti hyvä niin.

Ilmeisesti Clark haluaa IMDb:n bottom-listan keulille vaikka väkisin. Ykkösosahan tuli jonkin aikaa sitten televisiosta otsikolla Vaippahousut vauhdissa. Tunnustaako kukaan katsoneensa?



Ja tästäkin tehdään uutta versiota. Onhan siellä Savage Steve Holland käsikirjoittamassa, mutta eipä vaikuta tämäkään uusinta kovin tarpeelliselta.

Kung Fu Hustlesta. Nettisivulla on toinen traileri tai teaseri enemmänkin. Ehkä nuo trailerit menettelisivät muuten, mutta olisi ollut edes joku toinen biisi.

New Police Story

I AM convinced that Jackie Chan is actually Peter Parker, after watching New Police Story.



He could scale walls in a flash, leap from building to building without gravity holding him down, and was invincible to multiple blows.



He even rescued a bus full of hysterical passengers from certain doom, a la Spidey.



All this, and Jackie didn't even need to put on the tight little red suit.



In New Police Story, Jackie plays Senior Inspector Wing, who has his over-confidence cut down to size when his entire team of 9 men perish while on a sting operation led by him.



The inspector's nemesis is Joe Kwan (Daniel Wu), the leader of a pack of bored rich brats who rob banks and kill people with the callousness of playing a video game.



It's up to Wing's new partner Frank Cheng (Nicholas Tse), to convince Wing to give up the gin, and go back to his gun before Joe strikes again.



Having been too distracted by the bright lights of Hollywood, Jackie's recent releases have been nothing short of disappointing.



All they have done is to prove that Jackie is bad at comedy, lousy at slapstick and can't do romance for nuts.



But in New Police Story, Jackie goes back to what he does best – action.



The kind that is so cleverly choreographed, then perfectly executed in a dazzling blur, and leaves you wondering how he did it.



Then of course, there is his trademark jaw-dropping massive destruction scene.



In this movie, Jackie wrecks his mayhem by crashing through a busy shopping alley, shattering countless shop windows, scalping a double-decker bus, and finishes up by trying to drown some rubber duckies.



A breath-taking sequence, I tell you.



And while Jackie has cleverly left the comedy to the competent Nicholas this time, he couldn't resist the temptation of a celluloid romance.



Unfortunately, Jackie never seems to enjoy much chemistry or compatibility with his female co-stars.



Remember his pairing with sweetie-pie Vivian Hsu in The Accidental Spy? Shudder.



Well, Charlie Young fares no better as Wing's virtuous nurse-girlfriend Hong Yee.



Director Benny Chan could have smoothed away the corny moments more liberally with his loofah.



But New Police Story is still Jackie's best outing in a long while.

FAST FACTS





NICHOLAS Tse almost suffocated while filming the movie.



The scene required the actor-singer to be suspended in the air with a noose around his neck. Director Benny Chan called for a few takes and, by the time the scene wrapped, Nicholas was only half-conscious.



The worried crew packed him off to the hospital. Fortunately, doctors gave him the all clear.





New Police Story is the comeback film for actress Charlie Young.



She left showbiz seven years ago to set up an image consultancy company, which ran aground two years ago. Charlie returned to showbiz to solve her financial problems.



Good friend Jackie Chan was the first to help by giving her a role in the movie.





It is also a comeback film of sorts for Jackie who has been neglecting his home audience in favour of Hollywood movies.



His last major Chinese movie was The Accidental Spy in 2001.
